Successful Puppy Obedience Training Corpus Christi

Signs of aggression should be noticed and worked on because your puppy needs to learn his place in order for a cohesive relationship to exist, but so should signs of excessive submission because your puppy should feel confident and comfortable in his new environment.
Even though barking or whining can be annoying or embarrassing, keep in mind that barking can be an important part of their communication. You want a dog to alert you when you may need to be protected, but not to be easily set off over every little thing. However, whining should never be rewarded. If you comfort your pet while they are whining, once again that is positive reinforcement teaching them that if they continue to whine, eventually you will cave and give them what they want. Wait until they cease whining before going to them or feeding them, etc.
Keep training short. Puppies have a short attention span, so focus on training for about five minutes and then work on it again later. You also don't want to overwhelm them, so focus on one skill until they've mastered it before moving on to the next one. Always end training on a happy and rewarding note so your furry companion looks forward to training and perceives it as a positive experience.
Consistency is key. Doing it frequently and maintaining the same boundaries no matter what you're doing or how busy/tired you are will pay off ten-fold in the long run. If we lack consistency we're missing an opportunity to form good habits or break bad ones, and if we contradict ourselves by caving on boundaries when it's convenient we are confusing them on what we want/will allow and it's difficult to repair that confusion because we can't communicate it to them with words.
